Method for determining whether to wake up a mobile station
First Claim
1. A method for determining whether to wake up a mobile station to receive configuration information relating to a base station, the method comprising the steps of:
- monitoring, at the mobile station and after an idle handoff, a quick paging channel comprising paging indicators and a configuration change indicator;
receiving, by the mobile station, the configuration change indicator;
determining, by the mobile station, whether there has been a configuration change based at least in part upon the configuration change indicator;
when the mobile station determines that there has been a configuration change, waking up the mobile station to receive updated configuration information; and
when the mobile station determines that there has not been a configuration change, ceasing monitoring of a succeeding configuration change indicator without updating stored configuration information.

Abstract
The present invention provides a method for determining whether to wake up a mobile station. The mobile station includes first configuration parameters relating to a base station. The method includes the steps of receiving a configuration change indicator at the mobile station. The configuration change indicator is indicative that the first configuration parameters relating to the base station are different than second configuration parameters that currently relate to the base station. The method further includes waking up the mobile station to receive the second configuration parameters.
