1. A method for transmitting information about neighbouring cells from the base station of a cellular radio system to a mobile station, comprising the steps of:

  • at a base station of a first cell, collecting information about the transmission frequencies used in a multitude of neighbouring cells, at said base station of the first cell, collecting information about the quality of service offered to the mobile stations by neighbouring cells, dividing said collected quality information into predetermined quality of service classes, wherein the quality of service of each neighbouring cell is expressed by stating to which of said predetermined quality of service classes each of the neighbouring cells belongs, creating a message containing the collected information about the transmission frequencies and quality of service classes of neighbouring cells and transmitting the created message to a mobile station.
