1. A method of sending data at data rates of approximately 10 Gb/s over multi-mode fiber CHARACTERIZED BYrestricting a center launch condition of optical signals injected into the multi-mode fiber such that modal noise penalties associated with multi-mode fiber optic links operating at such high data rates are reduced, and FURTHER CHARACTERIZED IN THAT said multi-mode fiber has a Full Width Half Maximum (FWHM) differential mode delay (DMD) impulse response that is less than a predetermined maximum when measured from the center of the core of said multi-mode fiber to a specified radius, wherein said predetermined maximum is approximately 91 ps.
