1. A method of navigating the distal end of a variable stiffness through branched blood vessel, the method comprising advancing the distal end of the catheter through the blood vessel;

  • selectively allowing the distal end of the catheter to follow the branch having the greatest flow therein; and

    selectively applying a magnetic field and/or gradient to a magnet body on the distal end of the catheter to move the distal end of the catheter to follow a branch other than the branch having the greatest flow therein.
