First Claim
Patent Images
1. A medical retrieval device, comprising:
- a sheath having a proximal end and a distal end;
a handle at the proximal end of the sheath; and
a basket for removing material from a body, the basket having a collapsed position where the basket is enclosed within the sheath and an expanded position where the basket extends from the distal end of the sheath, the basket comprising a proximal end, a distal end, a cap, and three or more legs, each of the three or more legs comprising a distal end, the distal end of at least one of the legs being inserted into the cap, the cap being distal to the proximal end of the basket, and each of the legs comprising a bend distal to the cap.

7. A method for manufacturing a basket for a medical retrieval device, comprising:
-
removing from a sheet of material a shape comprising three or more tapered legs, the three or more tapered legs intersecting at a distal end of the basket; and
bending the legs to form a distal end of at least a portion of a three-dimensional basket structure for retrieving objects. - View Dependent Claims (8, 9, 10)

11. A method for retrieving material from a body, comprising:
-
inserting a device into a body, the device comprising a basket comprising a proximal end, a distal end, a cap, and three or more legs, each of the three or more legs comprising a distal end, the distal end of at least one of the legs being inserted into the cap, the cap being distal to the proximal end of the basket, and each of the legs comprising a bend distal to the cap;
capturing the material within the basket; and
withdrawing the device from the body.
