Machine detectable document of value
First Claim
1. A document of value including a substrate subdivided into a plurality of individual partial areas defined within a predetermined surface area thereof, the substrate comprising:
- a printed image visible to the naked eye; and
a marking including a feature substance invisible to the naked eye and having at least one machine readable physical property, the printed image and the marking at least partly overlapping each other;
wherein the marking is composed of at least two information parts disposed along said substrate in at least one predetermined pattern, each of said partial areas containing at least a portion of one of said information parts extending therethrough to at least one adjacent partial area;
wherein said information parts extend through said partial areas and form said at least one predetermined pattern to enable a machine to read said marking and verify the authenticity of said document of value.

Abstract
The invention relates to a document of value consisting of a substrate of predetermined surface area with a printed image visible to the naked eye and a marking in the form of characters, patterns or the like at least partly superimposed on the printed image. The marking is represented by a feature substance having at least one mechanically detectable physical property and extends over the predominant part of the surface of the document. The marking additionally has a given measurable regularity which makes it possible, by mechanical scanning of the marking, to detect the correctness of the distribution and recognize gaps or added partial elements of other authentic documents as disturbances.

13. A series of documents of value each having a substrate subdivided into a plurality of individual partial areas defined within a predetermined surface area thereof, the substrate comprising:
-
a printed image visible to the naked eye; and
a marking including a feature substance invisible to the naked eye and at least one machine readable physical property;
wherein the marking is composed of at least two information parts disposed along said substrate in at least one predetermined pattern, each of said partial areas containing at least a portion of one of said information parts extending therethrough to at least one adjacent partial area;
wherein said information parts extend through said partial areas and form said at least one predetermined pattern to enable a machine to read said marking and verify the authenticity of said document of value;
wherein said marking is arranged to optionally vary at a predetermined repetitive rate from document of value to document of value.
