1. A working end of an electrosurgical transecting-sealing instrument, comprising:

  • paired elongate guide members extending along an axis, the guide members coupled to the distal end of an introducer, a slidable extension member moveable from a first retracted position to a second extended position relative to the paired guide members, the extension member defining at least one longitudinal channel that engages outer surface portions of said guide members;

    a cutting element carried at the distal termination of the extension member; and

    an elongate electrode surface carried in said at least one channel of the extension member.
