ATM communication system, process migration method in the ATM communication system, and handover processing method
First Claim
1. A communication system comprising:
- at least one switch;
at least one fixed terminal;
a plurality of mobile terminal interface apparatuses, connected to each other through said at least one switch and arranged for a plurality of radio zones, for interfacing mobile terminals;
a connection setting unit for controlling said at least one switch to set a first connection for connecting said plurality of mobile terminal interface apparatuses as output side terminal points with said at least one fixed terminal, and to set a second connection for connecting said plurality of mobile terminal interface apparatuses as input side terminal points with said at least one fixed terminal; and
an identifier allocation unit for allocating first identical connection identifiers to the first connection at the output side terminal points and for allocating second identical connection identifiers to the second connection at the input side terminal points, the allocated first and second connection identifiers being used in a communication between the fixed terminal and the mobile terminal which moves from one of said radio zones to another of said radio zones.

Abstract
An ATM communication system has a connection setting section for controlling a plurality of ATM switches to set an n:n bidirectional ATM connection having n terminals of a plurality of constituent terminals as terminal points and using the VPI/VCI for identifying the n terminal points, and a process ID allocating section for allocating an MID as a process ID to a plurality of processes, executed by the n terminals for sending a message to the bidirectional ATM connection. The ATM communication system migrates a process executed on an arbitrary terminal to another terminal while keeping the process ID allocated to the processes. Where a dead-lock occurs due to that a process becomes a sleep state for the reason of that the bandwidth of a physical link is insufficient for executing in parallel the processes on the ATM communication system, the bandwidth of the physical link that a sleeping process occupies is intercepted to avoid a CAC dead-lock.

2. A handover processing method in a communication system having at least one switch, at least one fixed terminal, and a plurality of mobile terminal interface apparatuses arranged for a plurality of radio zones for interfacing mobile terminals, the method comprising the steps of:
-
setting a first connection for connecting said plurality of mobile terminal interface apparatuses as output side terminal points with said at least one fixed terminal and a second connection for connecting said mobile terminal interface apparatuses as input side terminal points with said at least one fixed terminal, by controlling said at least one switch;
allocating first identical connection identifiers to the first connection at the output side terminal points and second identical connection identifiers to the second connection at the input side terminal points; and
specifying, at the mobile terminal interface apparatuses, a connection to be used in communication between the fixed terminal and the mobile terminal which moves from one of said radio zones to another of said radio zones by the allocated first and second connection identifiers.
