1. A blood vessel detecting apparatus comprising:

  • a light source for irradiating a target vessel portion with a laser beam;

    an image pickup device which picks up a blood vessel image of an eye; and

    a processing system electrically coupled to said image pickup device, the system determining the target vessel portion of the eye from the blood vessel image irradiated by the laser beam and whether the target vessel portion comprises a single blood vessel or more than a single blood vessel, wherein the determination of whether the target vessel portion of the eye comprises a single blood vessel or more than a single blood vessel is used to determined at least one of the blood flow velocity, diameter and blood flow volume.
