1. A method of treating a physiologic condition comprising the steps of:

  • (a) providing a metal fabric formed of a plurality of metal strands, the strands having been heat-treated to set a desired shape, the fabric then being further heat-treated in a mold having a shape of a desired medical device to set the shape of the fabric in a deformed state to the shape of the desired medical device that can be collapsed for passage through a catheter for deployment in a patient'"'"'s body;

    (b) passing a catheter through a tubular organ in the patient'"'"'s body until a distal end of the catheter is adjacent a desired treatment site;

    (c) collapsing the medical device and inserting the medical device into the catheter'"'"'s lumen, and (d) urging the device along the lumen of the catheter and out of the distal end of the catheter for deployment at the treatment site.
