A golf ball comprising a core, at least one intermediate layer, and at least one cover layer, wherein the core comprises a base rubber, a crosslinking agent and a filler, and wherein the at least one intermediate layer is formed of a saponified polymer/oxa acid blend, comprising from about 65 to about 99 parts of at least one saponified polymer and from about 35 to 1 parts of at least one oxa acid, based on 100 parts by weight of the saponified polymer/oxa acid blend.
