1. One or more microprocessors, comprising programming to control:

  • a measurement cycle comprising operating a sampling device for extracting a sample from a biological system, said sample comprising an analyte, and operating a sensing device for sensing the analyte in the extracted sample to obtain a raw signal that is related to the analyte amount or concentration in the biological system, said sensing device comprising a sensor, subjecting the raw signal to a conversion step in order to convert said raw signal to an initial signal output which is indicative of the amount of analyte extracted by the sampling system;

    performing a calibration step which converts the initial signal output to a measurement value indicative of the concentration of analyte present in the biological system at the time of extraction; and

    repeating the measurement cycle at least once to obtain a plurality of measurement values.
