1. Tibial resection apparatus configured for use with a bone-cutting tool to install a prosthetic component directly to the proximal end of a tibia, the apparatus comprising:

  • a body having an outer surface and an inner surface, the inner surface being configured for temporary placement against a surface formed on the proximal end of a tibia following a previous transverse resection of the bone;

    at least one slot or aperture extending through the body, the slot or aperture including a surface to guide the bone-cutting tool to form a gap between the inner surface of the body and the proximal end of the tibia when the tool is inserted through the slot or aperture to cut the bone; and

    an augment dimensioned to fill the gap when the prosthetic component is installed directly to the proximal end of the tibia modified using the cutting tool.
