Abstract

A system, method and article of manufacture are provided for maintaining application consistency. First, a table of codes and associated text phrases are provided. Such table of codes is stored on a local storage medium within an e-commerce computer architecture. Next, the table of codes is accessed on the local storage medium within the e-commerce computer architecture. One of the text phrases is subsequently retrieved by selecting a corresponding one of the codes of the table. During operation, modification of the text phrases associated with each of the codes of the table is permitted. A plurality of services are executed, including retrieving a single one of the text phrases, retrieving all of the text phrases in response to a single command, updating a single code and text phrase combination, updating all of the code and text phrase combinations, naming the table, adding a new code and text phrase combination, removing one of the code and text phrase combination, and adding another table.

Claims

1. A method for maintaining application consistency, comprising:

(a) providing at least one table comprising a plurality of codes and an associated plurality of text phrases, wherein the table is stored on a local storage medium within an e-commerce computer architecture;

(b) accessing the table on the local storage medium within the e-commerce computer architecture;

(c) retrieving one of the text phrases by selecting a corresponding one of the codes of the table;

(d) allowing modification of the text phrases associated with each of the codes of the table; and

(e) executing a plurality of services including retrieving a single one of the text phrases, retrieving all of the text phrases in response to a single command, updating a single code and text phrase combination, updating all of the code and text phrase combinations, naming the table, adding a new code and text phrase combination, removing one of the code and text phrase combinations, and adding another table.

2. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein the modification is carried out during a business logic execution.

3. A method as recited in claim 1, and further comprising the step of storing a name of the table upon retrieval of the text phrase.

4. A method as recited in claim 1, and further comprising the step of determining a total number of code and text phrase combinations in the table.

5. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein a plurality of tables are provided and further comprising the step of removing at least one of the tables.

6. A computer program embodied on a computer readable medium for maintaining application consistency comprising:

(a) a code segment that provides at least one table comprising a plurality of codes and an associated plurality of text phrases, wherein the table is stored on a local storage medium within an e-commerce computer architecture;

(b) a code segment that accesses the table on the local storage medium within the e-commerce computer architecture;

(c) a code segment that retrieves one of the text phrases by selecting a corresponding one of the codes of the table;

(d) a code segment that allows modification of the text phrases associated with each of the codes of the table; and

(e) a code segment that executes a plurality of services including retrieving a single one of the text phrases, retrieving all of the text phrases in response to a single command, updating a single code and text phrase combination, updating all of the code and text phrase combinations, naming the table, adding a new code and text phrase combination, removing one of the code and text phrase combinations, and adding another table.

7. A computer program as recited in claim 6, wherein the modification is carried out during a business logic execution.

8. A computer program as recited in claim 6, and further comprising a code segment that stores a name of the table upon retrieval of the text phrase.

9. A computer program as recited in claim 6, and further comprising a code segment that determines a total number of code and text phrase combinations in the table.

10. A computer program as recited in claim 6, wherein a plurality of tables are provided and further comprising a code segment that removes at least one of the tables.

11. A system for maintaining application consistency, comprising:

(a) logic that provides at least one table comprising a plurality of codes and an associated plurality of text phrases, wherein the table is stored on a local storage medium within an e-commerce computer architecture;

(b) logic that accesses the table on the local storage medium within the e-commerce computer architecture;

(c) logic that retrieves one of the text phrases by selecting a corresponding one of the codes of the table;

(d) logic that allows modification of the text phrases associated with each of the codes of the table; and

(e) logic that executes a plurality of services including retrieving a single one of the text phrases, retrieving all of the text phrases in response to a single command, updating a single code and text phrase combination, updating all of the code and text phrase combinations, naming the table, adding a new code and text phrase combination, removing one of the code and text phrase combinations, and adding another table.

12. A system as recited in claim 11, wherein the modification is carried out during a business logic execution.

13. A system as recited in claim 11, and further comprising logic that stores a name of the table upon retrieval of the text phrase.

14. A system as recited in claim 11, and further comprising logic that determines a total number of code and text phrase combinations in the table.

15. A system as recited in claim 11, wherein a plurality of tables are provided and further comprising a code segment that removes at least one of the tables.
