1. A method for verifying amplification of a nucleic acid molecule in a sample, comprising:
- synthesizing, in an amplification process, a nucleic acid molecule labeled with a first ligand and with a second ligand;
immobilizing the nucleic acid molecule on an electrode by binding the first ligand to a redox polymer film disposed on the electrode;
binding a detection marker comprising a catalyst to the second ligand; and
correlating a change in current or potential at the electrode with a change in the rate of an electrochemical reaction catalyzed by the detection marker catalyst and with amplification of the nucleic acid molecule, wherein the correlating step is accomplished without separating immobilized nucleic acid molecules from the sample.
