1. A method for telemetrically measuring a parameter in a patient'"'"'s heart, the method comprising the steps of:

  • imaging the heart;

    identifying an implantation site in the heart;

    creating an opening in a tissue at the implantation site;

    providing a sensor comprising a housing, a membrane at one end of the housing, the membrane being defonnable in response to the parameter, and a microchip positioned within the housing and operatively communicating with the membrane for transmitting a signal indicative of the parameter, the microchip having an array of photoelectric cells, and a light emitting diode operatively connected to the microchip and spaced away from the array of photoelectric cells, and a shutter fixed to the membrane and movably extendable over the array of photoelectric cells, the shutter being movable in association with the membrane;

    placing the sensor in the opening; and

    telemetrically measuring the parameter from outside of the patient'"'"'s body based on the transmitted signal emitted by the sensor.
