1. A method for programming a pain reduction device over a network, the network comprising:

  • a client computer including a user interface for entering patient information;

    a remote computer including data analysis means for matching an appropriate treatment regiment with the entered patient information; and

    transmission means for transmitting said patient information from said user interface over a network to said remote computer and transmitting said appropriate treatment regiment, responsive to the received patient information, to said user interface, and the pain reduction device comprising;

    memory means for storing program information;

    a treatment interface for administering medical treatment to a patient;

    microprocessor means for administering treatment through the treatment interface according to the program information stored in the memory means, said method comprising the steps of;

    coupling the pain reduction device to the client computer;

    entering patient information into the user interface;

    transmitting the patient information to the remote computer;

    determining an appropriate treatment regiment responsive to the patient information and transmitting the appropriate treatment regiment to the client computer, said treatment regiment including program information for operating the pain reduction device;

    storing the program information within the memory means of the pain reduction device; and

    operating the pain reduction device under control of the program information on a patient through the treatment interface, wherein the treatment interface includes electrodes and the step of operating the pain reduction device includes;

    applying the electrodes to the patient for transmission of electrical stimulus through the skin of the patient;

    generating signals within the pain reduction device characterized by a high frequency signal alternating with a concurrent low frequency stimulus signal; and

    transmitting the signals through the electrodes for treating chronic pain.
