1. An oximeter sensor system comprising:
- a cable;
a substantially rigid connector connected to an end of the cable, wherein the substantially rigid connector includes an electronic element housing an emitter or a detector of a probe; and
a flexible wrap portion comprising an adhesive side in an area of the emitter and the detector, and a substantially rigid connection port shaped to receive the substantially rigid connector in a releasably securable manner, wherein the adhesive side provides proper placement of the emitter and the detector with respect to the measurement site when the flexible wrap portion is applied to a wearer of the probe.

4. A probe for returning a signal representative of light attenuated by transmission through a measurement site and representative of a physiological parameter, the probe comprising:
-
a cable;
a first housing having a first shape, wherein the first housing includes a releasable attachment mechanism and an emitter electrically connected to the cable;
a bandage;
a second housing attached to the bandage and having a second shape configured to receive the first shape and secure the first housing to the bandage through attachment to the releasable attachment mechanism; and
a detector electrically connected to the cable which receives light from the emitter attenuated by transmission through a measurement site, wherein the bandage includes an adhesive portion in an area of the emitter and the detector to position the emitter and the detector over the measurement site. - View Dependent Claims (5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11)

12. A method of applying an oximeter probe to a measurement site, the method comprising:
-
providing a rigid connector having an electronic component;
providing a rigid connection port including a receptacle, wherein the rigid connection port is attached to a wrap;
releasably plugging the rigid connector into the receptacle in a manner which provides proper placement of the electronic component with respect to the wrap; and
adhering the wrap in at least an area of the emitter and the detector to a measurement site. - View Dependent Claims (13, 14, 15)
