1. An organic electroluminescent device comprising:

  • an insulating substrate;

    a first electrode layer, a number of conductive wiring pads formed on the insulating substrate;

    an organic layer formed on the first electrode layer; and

    a second electrode layer formed on the organic layer, wherein at least one of the electrode layers is transparent and the second electrode layer includes a plurality of disjointed electrodes, the disjointed electrodes being grouped into a plural number of groups and at least one of the groups having at least two disjointed electrodes, and wherein the electrodes of each of said at least one of the groups are electrically connected to each other via one or more selected wiring pads.
