1. An electronic circuit for automatically compensating for errors in the output signal of a predetermined displacement sensor, the electronic circuit comprising:

  • an input for receiving output signals from said predetermined displacement sensor defining sensor output signals;

    a storage device for storing compensation values, said compensation values corresponding to a predetermined range of said sensor output values, said predetermined range of sensor output signals varying from a first sensor output signal to a second sensor output signal with a higher value;

    means for automatically compensating all of said sensor output signals by adding at least one or more compensation values to all of said sensor output signals to linearly compensate the sensor output signals to generate compensated sensor output signals, wherein said predetermined range of said sensor output signals is divided into a plurality of sub-ranges and said compensating means includes a system for selecting a compensation value based upon determining the sub-range in which the current sensor output value is contained and adding said selected compensation value to said sensor output value to generate said compensated sensor put signals.
