Abstract

A computer-implemented method and apparatus for information organization, wherein atomic information can be both static and dynamic, but the compound information (e.g., associations, groupings, sets, etc.) of such atoms always remain dynamic. Unless otherwise directed, a compound information entity is always dynamically determined and generated. This determination is based on the processing of a defined condition, wherein all atoms qualifying the condition are included in the compound. This dynamic determination eliminates the need to “update” the compound, when atoms and/or compounds common to two or more compounds are changed. Further, each information compound can be dynamically generated based on an existing definition for that compound.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method of organizing data items into a hierarchical data structure using a dynamically generated information set, the method comprising:

representing at least one data item as an information node within the dynamically generated information set, the information node comprising a subject, an attribute and a bond, wherein the bond defines a relationship between the subject and the attribute; and

dynamically constructing the hierarchical data structure using the information nodes.

2. The method according to claim 1, wherein subject data values, attribute data values and bond data values are related when the data values are identical.

3. The method according to claim 1, wherein subject data values, attribute data values and bond data values are related when the data values are capable of being numerically sequenced.

4. The method according to claim 2, wherein the data values are capable of being numerically sequenced when a first data value is greater than a second data value.

5. The method according to claim 2, wherein the data values are capable of being numerically sequenced when a first data value is less than a second data value.

6. The method according to claim 3, wherein the data values are capable of being numerically sequenced when a first data value is not equal to a second data value.

7. The method according to claim 1, wherein the method further comprises:

creating a new hierarchical data structure by applying a condition to the data values within the information nodes of at least one information set to create a new information set while traversing at least one information set; and

traversing the new hierarchical data structure.

8. The method according to claim 7, wherein the new information set is a subset of an information set.

9. The method according to claim 8, wherein information nodes in the new information set are included in the new information set when the data values in the information nodes satisfy the condition.

10. The method according to claim 7, wherein the new information set is a combination of a plurality of information sets.

11. The method according to claim 7, wherein the new information set is a subset of a combination of a plurality of information sets.

12. The method according to claim 11, wherein information nodes in the new information set are included in the new information set when the data values in the information nodes satisfy the condition.

13. The method according to claim 7, wherein the condition applied to the information structure comprises a set definition equation.

14. The method according to claim 13, wherein at least one association in the first data set comprises at least one item associated with a local site of a multi-site computer environment, and at least one association in the second data set comprises at least one item associated with a remote site of a multi-site computer environment.

15. The method according to claim 14, wherein the at least one association in the first data set item involves a universal identifier to identify the location of an associated resource located at the remote site.

16. The method according to claim 15, wherein the universal identifier corresponds to a Universal Entity Identifier (UEI).

17. The method according to claim 13, wherein at least one association in the first data set comprises at least one item associated with a local site of a multi-site computer environment, and the second data set corresponds to a remote operations list located at the remote site.

18. The method according to claim 17, wherein the at least one association in the first data set item involves a universal identifier to identify the location of an associated resource located at the remote site.

19. The method according to claim 18, wherein the universal identifier corresponds to a Universal Entity Identifier (UEI).

20. The method according to claim 7, wherein the combining the first and the second data sets uses a condition applied to the first and the second data sets.

21. The method according to claim 20, wherein the set definition equation comprises a union operation applied to the first and second data sets.

22. A computer program data product readable by a computing system and encoding instructions for organizing data items into a hierarchical data structure using a dynamically generated information set, the method comprising:

representing at least one data item as information node within the information set, the information node comprising a subject, an attribute and a bond, wherein the bond defines a relationship between the subject and the attribute;

identifying information nodes have subject data values, attribute data values and bond data values that are related;

dynamically constructing the hierarchical data structure containing relationships between data items using the information nodes having related subject data values, attribute data values and bond data value; and

traversing the hierarchical data structure.

23. The computer program data product according to claim 22, wherein subject data values, attribute data values and bond data values are related when the data values are identical.

24. The computer program data product according to claim 22, wherein subject data values, attribute data values and bond data values are related when the data values are capable of being numerically sequenced.

25. The computer program data product according to claim 24, wherein the data values are capable of being numerically sequenced when a first data value is greater than a second data value.

26. The computer program data product according to claim 24, wherein the data values are capable of being numerically sequenced when a first data value is less than a second data value.

27. The computer program data product according to claim 24, wherein the data values are capable of being numerically sequenced when a first data value is not equal to a second data value.

28. The computer program data product according to claim 22, wherein the method further comprises:

creating a new hierarchical data structure by applying a condition to the data values within the information nodes of at least one information set to create a new information set while traversing at least one information set; and

traversing the new hierarchical data structure.

29. The computer program data product according to claim 28, wherein the new information set is a subset of an information set.

30. The computer program data product according to claim 29, wherein information nodes in the new information set are included in the new information set when the data values in the information nodes satisfy the condition.

31. The computer program data product according to claim 28, wherein the new information set is a combination of a plurality of information sets.

32. The computer program data product according to claim 28, wherein the new information set is a subset of a combination of a plurality of information sets.

33. The computer program data product according to claim 32, wherein information nodes in the new information set are included in the new information set when the data values in the information nodes satisfy the condition.

34. The computer program data product according to claim 28, wherein the condition applied to the information structure comprises a set definition equation.

35. The computer program data product according to claim 34, wherein at least one association in the first data set comprises at least one item associated with a local site of a multi-site computer environment, and at least one association in the second data set comprises at least one item associated with a remote site of a multi-site computer environment.

36. The computer program data product according to claim 35, wherein the at least one association in the first data set item involves a universal identifier to identify the location of an associated resource located at the remote site.

37. The computer program data product according to claim 36, wherein the universal identifier corresponds to a Universal Entity Identifier (UEI).

38. The computer program data product according to claim 34, wherein at least one association in the first data set comprises at least one item associated with a local site of a multi-site computer environment, and the second data set corresponds to a remote operations list located at the remote site.

39. The computer program data product according to claim 38, wherein the at least one association in the first data set item involves a universal identifier to identify the location of an associated resource located at the remote site.

40. The computer program data product according to claim 39, wherein the universal identifier corresponds to a Universal Entity Identifier (UEI).

41. The computer program data product according to claim 28, wherein the combining the first and the second data sets uses a condition applied to the first and the second data sets.

42. The computer program data product according to claim 41, wherein the set definition equation comprises a union operation applied to the first and second data sets.

43. A computer-implemented method of organizing data items into a hierarchical data structure, the method comprising:

representing at least one data item as information node, the information node comprising a subject, an attribute and a bond, wherein the bond defines a relationship between the subject and the attribute;

dynamically generating an information set by identifying information nodes that satisfy a condition;

constructing the hierarchical data structure using the information nodes in the dynamically generated information set.

44. The method according to claim 43, wherein the method further comprises:

creating a new hierarchical data structure by applying a condition to the data values within the information nodes of at least one information set to create a new information set while traversing at least one information set; and

traversing the new hierarchical data structure.

45. The method according to claim 44, wherein the new information set is a subset of an information set.

46. The method according to claim 45, wherein information nodes in the new information set are included in the new information set when the data values in the information nodes satisfy the condition.

47. The method according to claim 44, wherein the new information set is a combination of a plurality of information sets.

48. The method according to claim 44, wherein the new information set is a subset of a combination of a plurality of information sets.

49. The method according to claim 48, wherein information nodes in the new information set are included in the new information set when the data values in the information nodes satisfy the condition.

50. The method according to claim 44, wherein the condition applied to the information structure comprises a set definition equation.

51. The method according to claim 50, wherein at least one association in the first data set comprises at least one item associated with a local site of a multi-site computer environment, and at least one association in the second data set comprises at least one item associated with a remote site of a multi-site computer environment.

52. The method according to claim 51, wherein the at least one association in the first data set item involves a universal identifier to identify the location of an associated resource located at the remote site.

53. The method according to claim 52, wherein the universal identifier corresponds to a Universal Entity Identifier (UEI).

54. The method according to claim 50, wherein at least one association in the first data set comprises at least one item associated with a local site of a multi-site computer environment, and the second data set corresponds to a remote operations list located at the remote site.

55. The method according to claim 54, wherein the at least one association in the first data set item involves a universal identifier to identify the location of an associated resource located at the remote site.

56. The method according to claim 55, wherein the universal identifier corresponds to a Universal Entity Identifier (UEI).

57. The method according to claim 44, wherein the combining the first and the second data sets uses a condition applied to the first and the second data sets.

58. The method according to claim 57, wherein the set definition equation comprises a union operation applied to the first and second data sets.
