1. An apparatus for introducing an intubation tube into a trachea, comprising:
- a shaft having, a plurality of interlocked sections, each having an interlocking stop for inhibiting the sections from being separated from one another, a first coupler arranged at a distal end of said shaft, said first coupler provided for coupling to an intubation tube; and
a second coupler arranged at a proximal end of said shaft for coupling to an endoscope, and wherein a length of said shaft is variable such that the intubation tube and the endoscope are axially movable relative to each other.

24. A coupling apparatus for introducing an intubation tube into a trachea, comprising:
-
an intubation tube;
an endoscope;
a shaft member of variable length, having a proximal and a distal end;
a first coupler, provided at the distal end of the shaft member, for connecting the shaft member to the intubation tube; and
a second coupler, provided at the proximal end of the shaft member, for connecting the shaft member to the endoscope, such that the endoscope extends through the shaft member and into the intubation tube;
wherein the shaft member of variable length has a plurality of slideable shaft sections, each section having an interlocking stop for inhibiting the sections from being separated from one another such that the endoscope is adjustable between a maximum insertion position when the shaft is fully compressed and a minimum insertion position when the shaft is fully extended.
