- displaying an image of the virtual patient;
receiving user selection of an area of the image of the virtual patient; and
transmitting signals that correspond to the user selected area of the image, the signals being based on the state of the virtual patient, the signals comprise data corresponding to percussion sounds from percussing the virtual patient.

6. A computer program product, disposed on a computer readable medium, for simulating an encounter with a virtual patient, the program comprising instructions for causing a computer to:

display an image of the virtual patient;
receive user selection of an area of the image of the virtual patient;
transmit signals that correspond to the user selected area of the image, the signals being based on the state of the virtual patient, the signals comprise data corresponding to percussion sounds from percussing the virtual patient. - View Dependent Claims (7, 8, 9, 10)
to preselected areas of the image; - and
wherein the instructions that receive user selection of an area comprise instructions that receive user selection of one of the one or more hot spots.
