1. An infrared thermometer operative to measure the internal body temperature of an animal, comprising:

  • a handle portion extending along a first axis, an elongate, curved arm extending along a second axis curving transverse to and intersecting said first axis when disposed in a first position for measuring the internal body temperature of the animal, said arm including a distal portion and a proximal portion extending along said second axis, said distal portion configured for insertion into an ear canal of the animal and having at least one infrared sensing element for receiving infrared radiation, and said proximal portion coupled to said handle portion, wherein said curved arm is pivotally coupled to said handle portion to allow movement of said curved arm to a second position for storage.
