1. A method of diagnosing breast cancer in a human individual comprising:
- a) determining the expression of a gene encoding an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO;
5 in a first breast tissue sample obtained from a human individual; and
b) comparing the expression of said gene in the first breast tissue sample to expression of said gene in a normal breast tissue sample;
whereby the overexpression of said gene in the first breast tissue sample indicates breast cancer in said human individual.

Described herein are methods that can be used for diagnosis and prognosis of breast cancer. Also described herein are methods that can be used to screen candidate bioactive agents for the ability to modulate breast cancer. Additionally, methods and molecular targets (genes and their products) for therapeutic intervention in breast cancer are described.
