1. A method for transmitting and receiving signals in a radiocommunication system having a base station and at least one mobile station, the method comprising:

  • generating a plurality of beams from the base station including a first set of one or more of the plurality of beams for processing information from the at least one mobile station;

    searching for additional mobile stations by successively examining a second set of one or more of the plurality of beams against predetermined criteria, comprising determining a rate at which the second set of beams is successively examined based on the speed at which the at least one mobile station is moving; and

    allocating the one or more candidate beams to the first set if the predetermined criteria is met.
