1. A method for handing off a call between a mobile station and a first base station to a second base station, said first and second base stations being connected to a line side of a same digital communication switch, said method comprising:

  • the first base station sending a call handoff request to the second base station, wherein the handoff request includes at least one of priority list of base stations served by a network service platform and an identifier of the mobile station, the sending step including the first base station sending the call handoff request to the network service platform (NSP), the network service platform checking for availability of other base stations as set forth in the priority list of base stations, wherein if the second base station is the base station of highest priority having channel availability, the network service platform sending the handoff request to the second base station;

    the second base station connecting with the mobile station, simultaneous with a connection between said mobile station and said first base station via said line side of said digital communications; and

    said first base station releasing a connection with the mobile station.
