1. A method of making a flexible elongate member, the method comprising the steps of:

  • providing a core wire having a proximal end and a distal end, the core wire having a diameter of less than 0.018 inches;

    attaching an electrical device in proximity to the distal end of the core wire, the electrical device being electrically connected to at least one conductor;

    forming a substantially cylindrical electrical connector from a substrate having a first edge and a second edge, the first edge and the second edge of the substrate being disposed substantially flush to each other, the electrical connector including a plurality of conductive bands and a plurality of electrically conductive runners interconnected to the plurality of bands, the substantially cylindrical electrical connector adapted to be received into a corresponding female connector;

    forming an electrically conductive bond between the at least one conductor and the plurality of electrically conductive runners; and

    attaching the substantially cylindrical electrical connector to the proximal region of the core wire.
