A luminescence device comprising a pair of electrodes, a luminescence layer disposed between the electrodes and an organic layer, which is disposed between the electrodes and is different from the luminescent layer, the luminescent layer comprising a metal coordination compound represented by formula (4):

    (i) the compound of formula (4) is optionally and independently substituted with at least one C1-C20 alkyl group, C1-C20 alkoxy group or a trimethylsilyl group, which said alkyl, alkoxy and trimethylsilyl groups are optionally substituted with a fluorine; and
