An organic electroluminescent display element, comprising a positive electrode, an organic luminescent film and a negative electrode,wherein said positive electrode is formed of an electrically conductive indium tin oxide film having transparency, said negative electrode is formed of an opaque metal film containing metal having a low work function, said negative electrode is connected to a power supply lead portion made of a transparent and conductive film, and a portion around said negative electrode has transparency.
