1. A vehicular automatic shift control unit that executes an automatic shift control for executing a shift control of an automatic transmission in a vehicle so as to establish a target gear ratio determined based on a driving force required by a driver and a vehicle speed, and a cooperative shift control for executing at least one of a downshift and an upshift prohibition of the automatic transmission based on information associated with at least one of a road condition around the vehicle and a road condition in front of the vehicle such that the cooperative shift control is given priority over the automatic shift control, comprising:

  • judging means for judging whether the vehicle exists in a predetermined area including a branch point of the road during execution of the cooperative shift control by judging that the predetermined area has a branch point; and

    gear ratio maintaining means for maintaining a gear ratio of the automatic transmission if a judgement is made that the vehicle exists in the predetermined area.
