Information management system with authenticity check
First Claim
1. A product comprising at least one authentication writing area which is adapted to receive handwritten authentication information from a user and which is provided with a specifically assigned personal subset of an absolute position-coding pattern, which codes coordinates for a plurality of points on an imaginary surface, said subset allowing digital recording and reproduction of the handwritten authentication information as well as authenticity checking.

Abstract
A payment product has a writing area (6c) which is intended for a user'"'"'s signature. In the writing area there is a first position-coding pattern (5) which makes possible digital recording of the signature. The first position-coding pattern is a subset of a larger second position-coding pattern. The payment product is used in a payment system which is based on electronic payment information, which has been recorded by means of the position-coding pattern, being sent to a server unit, which utilizes the position-coding pattern to check that the payment information is valid.

16. A server unit for managing information, which server unit is arranged to receive pen stroke information from a plurality of digital pens and which server unit has access to a memory, in which there is stored information about a plurality of regions, each of which represents a coordinate area on at least one imaginary surface,
wherein the server unit is arranged to receive the pen stroke information in the form of at least two coordinates for at least one point on the imaginary surface, and wherein the server unit is arranged, in response to the receipt of the pen stroke information from one of said digital pens, to determine to which coordinate area the coordinates belong and to carry out an authenticity check on the basis of the coordinate area to which the coordinates belong, wherein at least one authorized user is associated with at least certain of the regions and in which the server unit is arranged when carrying out the authenticity check to check the authorization of the user by means of a region affiliation.

24. A system for managing information, which system comprises a server unit and a plurality of digital pens, each of which is arranged to record and send pen stroke in formation to the server unit, wherein information is stored in the server unit concerning a plurality of regions, each of which represents a coordinate area on at least one imaginary surface,
each of the digital pens is arranged to record the pen stroke information in the form of at least two coordinates for at least one point on the imaginary surface, and the server unit is arranged, in response to the receipt of the pen stroke information from one of said digital pens, to determine to which coordinate area the coordinates belong and to carry out an authenticity check on the basis of the coordinate area to which the coordinates belong, wherein at least one authorized user is associated with at least certain of the regions and in which the server unit is arranged to check the user'"'"'s authorization by means of a region affiliation when carrying out the authenticity check.

35. A method of providing a product which makes possible checking of a user'"'"'s authorization to use the product, comprising:
-
selecting a specific subset of an absolute position-coding pattern and applying the specific subset in an authentication area on the product, wherein the subset of the absolute position-coding pattern is selected so that the subset is unique to the authorized user. - View Dependent Claims (36)

37. A method of providing a product which makes possible checking of a user'"'"'s authorization to use the product, comprising:
-
selecting a specific subset of an absolute position-coding pattern and applying the specific subset in an authentication area on the product, and further comprising storing information about a coordinate area which is coded by the specific subset of the absolute position-coding pattern, so that the information can be checked when checking the user'"'"'s authorization to use the product. - View Dependent Claims (38)

39. A method of checking a user'"'"'s authorization to use a product, comprising receiving at least two coordinates from a digital pen, which has decoded the coordinates from an absolute position-coding pattern on the product, which absolute position-coding pattern codes coordinates for a plurality of points on an imaginary surface, wherein the user is provided with a specifically assigned personal coordinate area of the absolute position-coding pattern, said personal coordinate area allowing digital recording and reproduction of the handwritten authentication information as well as authenticity checking;
- determining to which coordinate area of a plurality of coordinate areas the received coordinates belong; and
determining the user'"'"'s authorization based on the determined coordinate area.
