1. In a coke drum de-heading system having at least one coke drum containing manufactured coke, a de-header valve removably coupled to the coke drum and configured to facilitate a removal of coke from the coke drum by de-heading the coke drum and allowing the coke to pass therethrough, and an exchange system including an upper and a lower bonnet, a method for selectively reducing an amount of steam lost from the coke de-heading device as it is being throttled and preventing debris from being deposited into a bonnet, the method comprising:

  • using a shroud to selectively surround a linear blind gate valve of a coke de-heading system as a blind is placed in a closed position, thereby containing any released steam or coke debris and preventing the debris from being deposited into a valve bonnet; and

    slidably engaging a blind seal of a blind seal assembly against the blind to prevent a flow of the steam thereby.
