1. A prosthetic heart valve assembly comprising:

  • a prosthetic heart valve comprising a frame;

    at least one leaflet adapted to open and close relative to said frame; and

    a sewing cuff attached to said frame; and

    a fixation band for affixing said prosthetic heart valve to tissue, the fixation band comprising;

    a tube defining a proximal end, a distal end, and a central lumen;

    a tubular frame comprising a plurality of longitudinally-extending members, each having a hook at a distal end thereof; and

    at least one laterally-extending member fixed to said longitudinally-extending members, said laterally-extending member extending circumferentially of said longitudinally-extending members;

    said tubular frame being disposed on an outside wall of said tube;

    the distal end of said tube being everted around the distal end of said tubular frame and extending proximally along said tubular frame and over the hooks to be engaged thereby; and

    a band sewing cuff portion disposed on said tube and exposed by the eversion of the distal end of said tube;

    wherein said band sewing cuff is adapted for attachment to the prosthetic heart valve by suturing of said band sewing cuff to said heart valve sewing cuff.
