1. A medical device used for thermal treatment of tissue, comprising an elongated probe sheath having a longitudinal axis;

  • an expandable member attached to said elongated probe sheath, said expandable member being expandable from a collapsed configuration to an expanded configuration; and

    a plurality of energy-emitting electrodes attached to said expandable member such that each of said electrodes is arranged generally coaxially relative to said probe sheath when said expandable member is in its said collapsed and expanded configurations, said expandable member including a plurality of arms, each of said arms being expandable between a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration, said probe sheath including a plurality of inwardly tapered sides in cooperation with said arms, and said probe sheath being movable between a retracted position and an extended position.
