A phosphor for a display, which is provided with a zinc sulfide phosphor which is excited by an electron beam having an acceleration voltage of 3 kV to 15 kV to emit blue light, whereinthe zinc sulfide phosphor has a crystal structure of a hexagonal system and a composition indicated by the general formula:

    where, M indicates at least one element selected from Au and Cu, a, b and c indicate an amount against 1 g of zinc sulfide which is a mother phosphor, Ag indicates a range of 1×
