A control apparatus for a hybrid vehicle, the hybrid vehicle comprising a motor and an engine, which is capable of executing a partial cylinder deactivation operation by deactivating a part of cylinders of the engine, as a power source for driving the hybrid vehicle by transmitting power of at least one of the motor and the engine to the wheels, whereinwhen the output required for the power source is larger than the output of the engine under the partial cylinder deactivation operation, and is smaller than the total of the output of the engine under partial cylinder deactivation operation and the output of the motor, which is adjustable for assisting the engine output, the control apparatus of the hybrid vehicle operates the engine under the partial cylinder deactivation operation and controls the motor output for compensating the difference between the total required output of the power source and the engine output under the partial cylinder deactivation operation.
