1. An apparatus for testing an electric motor comprising:

  • a voltage generator operatively connected to the motor to pulse a voltage into the motor;

    a current sensor configured to sense a current associated with the motor;

    a detector configured to detect a phase angle between the voltage applied to the motor and current associated with the motor;

    a first differential amplifier;

    a second differential amplifier; and

    a signal processor configured to receive a first signal associated with the pulsed voltage from the first differential amplifier and a second signal associated with the current in the motor from the second differential amplifier, wherein the signal processor is configured to output a signal corresponding to the phase angle and the apparatus is attached to a starter motor of an internal combustion engine.
