1. A coupler for a data signal, comprising:
- a core through which a phase conductor of a power distribution system can be routed to serve as a first winding; and
a second winding wound around a portion of said core, wherein said first winding has an impedance that is negligible at a power distribution frequency of said power distribution system, and wherein said data signal is inductively coupled between said phase conductor and said second winding via said core.
