Intraocular lenses and methods producing the same are provided. The intraocular lens includes an optic and a haptic that are integrally formed together. The haptic has a polyimide coating. The polyimide coating promotes fibrosis in the surrounding eye tissue to enhance the anchoring of the IOL after it is implanted in an eye.

a biologically inert exterior surface region; and
fibrosis-promoting amount of a polyimide coating on at least an anchoring region of said surface region;
wherein the device is shaped in the form of an intraocular lens, the intraocular lens comprising an optic and at least one haptic which form a unitary structure with the anchoring region located away from the optic; and
