1. A networking cable for transmitting nominal signals, the networking cable comprising:

  • a plurality of twisted copper wire pairs;

    at least one electrically activated indicator affixed to at least one end of at least one pair of said plurality of twisted copper wire pairs for providing an indication in response to an illumination signal; and

    a driver for generating an illumination signal whenever signals other than said nominal signals are applied to said at least one pair of said plurality of twisted copper wire pairs, said driver configured so as to not interfere with the flow of data through the cable, said driver and said indicator coupled to at least one of said twisted copper wire pairs.
