1. A method for treating urinary incontinence in a patient, the method comprising:

  • transmitting energy from a probe to a collagenous target tissue comprising or supporting the urethra of a patient, wherein the energy heats the target tissue so as to inhibit incontinence; and

    cooling tissue in the vicinity of the probe.
