Abstract

BB input units input baseband received signals. An initial weight data setting unit sets weighting coefficients to be utilized in the interval of a training signal as initial weighting coefficients. A gap compensating unit compensates control weighting coefficients with a gap error signal and outputs the updated weighting coefficients acquired as a result of the compensation. A weight switching unit selects the initial weighting coefficients in the interval of the training signal and selects the updated weighting coefficients in the interval of the data signal. Then the weight switching unit outputs the selected initial weighting coefficients and updated weighting coefficients as the weighting coefficients. A synthesizing unit weights the baseband received signals with the weighting coefficients and then sums them up.

Claims

1. A method for processing a signal received from a wireless local area network transmitter, the method comprising:

receiving a first signal from a first antenna terminal and a second signal from a second antenna terminal, each signal originating from the transmitter and including at least one packet, the at least one packet having a training portion and a data portion;

setting a first set of weighting factors during the training portion of the at least one packet, wherein the first set of weighting factors are configured to pass the first and the second signals through to at least one synchronizer;

correlating the first and second signals with a stored reference signal to determine a second set of weighting factors, wherein the correlating occurs a duration of time after the setting of the first set of weighting factors; and

applying the second set of weighting factors to an array synthesizer at fixed timing before the data portion of the at least one packet.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving a third signal from a third antenna terminal, the third signal originating from the transmitter and including at least one packet, the at least one packet having a training portion and a data portion.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the first set of weighting factors pass the first signal, the second signal, and the third signal through to the at least one synchronizer.

4. A system for processing a signal received from a wireless local area network transmitter, the system comprising:

an input unit configured to receive a first signal from a first antenna terminal and a second signal from a second antenna terminal, each signal originating from the transmitter and including at least one packet, the at least one packet having a training portion and a data portion;

a weight switching unit configured to set a first set of weighting factors during the training portion of the at least one packet, wherein the first set of weighting factors are configured to pass the first and the second signals through to at least one synchronizer; and

a weight calculation unit configured to correlate the first and second signals with a stored reference signal to determine a second set of weighting factors, wherein the correlating occurs a duration of time after the setting of the first set of weighting factors, wherein the weight switching unit is further configured to apply the second set of weighting factors to an array synthesizer at fixed timing before the data portion of the at least one packet.

5. The system of claim 4, wherein the input unit is further configured to receive a third signal from a third antenna terminal, the third signal originating from the transmitter and including at least one packet, the at least one packet having a training portion and a data portion.

6. The system of claim 5, wherein the first set of weighting factors select the first signal, the second signal, and the third signal through to the at least one synchronizer.
