1. A rotisserie oven for cooking food, comprising:
- an enclosure that includes walls;
a heating element inside the enclosure;
a plurality of plates, each having a center, wherein the plates in combination with at least one rod form a spit assembly and wherein the spit assembly does not include any structure extending from the center of one plate and connecting to the center of any other plate, and wherein at least one of the plates has a plurality of teeth situated around its peripheral boundary; and
an exhaust vent located in one of the walls of the enclosure, the exhaust vent having an indent extending into the enclosure with an opening at the top of the indent.

a heating element inside the enclosure; a plurality of plates, each having a center, wherein the plates in combination with at least one rod form a spit assembly, wherein the spit assembly does not include a rod extending from the center of one plate and connecting to the center of any other plate, and wherein at least one of the plates has an inner side, a peripheral boundary, and an interior area wherein the interior area and the peripheral boundary are positioned in two different planes; an exhaust vent located in the curved section; and wherein the exhaust vent has an indent extending into the enclosure with an opening at the top of the indent.
