A process for the preparation of toner which comprises the heating of a sulfonated polyester and a colorant, and wherein said polyester possesses a sulfonation percentage of from about 0.5 to about 3 mol percent, and wherein said heating is accomplished by heating in sequence said polyester and colorant at a first temperature about below the glass transition temperature of said polyester, followed by second subsequent second heating at about above the glass transition of said polyester, and wherein aggregation/coalescence of said polyester and said colorant results, and which process is accomplished by solvent flashing.
