1. A method of accessing an anatomic space of a patient comprising:

  • advancing a tubular access sleeve having a working lumen and a suction tool lumen through an opening in the patient to dispose a distal end of the sleeve adjacent tissue enclosing the anatomic space;

    advancing a suction tool comprising a suction pad mounted to a support arm branching from a suction tool trunk and suction ports through the suction tool lumen to extend the suction ports distally from the sleeve, the suction pad comprising at least a portion of the suction ports; and

    applying suction through the suction ports to grasp the tissue, whereby the anatomic space may be accessed through the working lumen.
