1. A sling for treating urinary incontinence, comprising:
- a first implantable sheet sized and shaped to fit under and for supporting a urethra of a patient, the first sheet comprising a synthetic material having a width of between about 1 cm and about 3 cm and a length of between about 1 cm and about 30 cm, having first and second ends, and having upper and lower sides,a first mammalian tissue material attached to the upper side of the first sheet between the first and second ends spanning substantially the entire width of the first sheet and at least a portion of the length of the first sheet, for being interdisposed between the upper side of the first sheet and the urethra, the attachment being by at least one of glue, suture, stable, rivet, eyelet rivet, and clip, anda second mammalian tissue material attached to the lower side of the first implantable sheet opposite the first mammalian tissue material, the attachment being by at least one of glue, suture, staple, rivet, and clip.

Abstract
A sling in accordance with the invention includes a synthetic material and a non-synthetic material positioned adjacent thereto. The non-synthetic material may be wrapped around or may be attached to the synthetic material. Additionally, the non-synthetic material may include slits. Methods for making such slings are also described.

1. A sling for treating urinary incontinence, comprising:

18. A method of making a sling for treating urinary incontinence, comprising:

providing a first implantable sheet suitable for treating urinary incontinence, and sized and shaped to fit under and for supporting a urethra of a patient, the first sheet comprising a synthetic material having a width of between about 1 cm and about 3 cm and a length of between about 1 and about 30 cm, having first and second ends, and having upper and lower sides, attaching first mammalian tissue material to the upper side of the first sheet between the first and second ends, the first mammalian tissue material spanning substantially the entire width of the first sheet and at least a portion of the length of the first implantable sheet, for being interdisposed between the upper side of the first sheet and the urethra, the attachment being by at least one of glue, suture, staple, rivet, eyelet rivet, and clip, and attaching a second mammalian tissue material attached to the lower side of the first implantable sheet opposite the first mammalian tissue material, the attachment being by at least one of glue, suture, staple, rivet, eyelet rivet, and clip.
