Server time window for multiple selectable servers in a graphical user interface
First Claim
1. A method for managing execution of operations performed on media data by selected ones of a plurality of media servers of a network, the process comprising the steps of:
- at a node of the network, receiving information input by the user specifying a selected one of the media servers for scheduling operations to be performed, wherein said node resides in a first time zone and said selected media server resides in a second time zone, and wherein there is a time difference between said first and second time zones;
at said node, displaying graphical information indicative of a current local time at said selected media server.

Abstract
A process is provided for managing media data in a network system. The network system includes: an administrator terminal having a display unit for displaying graphical information, and an input/output unit for receiving user input; and at least one media server communicatively coupled to the administrator terminal via a network. Each of the media servers is capable of accessing at least one corresponding memory device for storing media data, and is operative to perform operations associated with selected portions of the media data. The process provides a centralized user interface for scheduling and coordinating execution of operations performed by selected ones of the media servers. The process begins with a step of displaying a graphical user interface including a plurality of interface components on the display unit of the administrator terminal, the components enabling a user of the administrator terminal to define operations to be performed by selected ones of the media servers, the components including a server selection interface component enabling the user to select one of the media servers. User input is received via the input/output unit. The user input includes: server identification information indicative of a selected server for performing an operation associated with a selected portion of media data, and operation information specifying an operation to be performed by the selected media server on a selected portion of media data. Further steps of the process include: accessing the selected media server; and displaying graphical information indicative of a current local time at the selected media server.
