Method and apparatus for cooling the components of a control unit of an emission abatement assembly
First Claim
1. A control unit for an emission abatement assembly, comprising:
- a housing defining an interior chamber, the housing having an air inlet,an air pump positioned in the interior chamber of the housing, wherein (i) the air pump has an air inlet configured to draw air from the interior chamber of the housing, and (ii) the air pump is operable to create reduced air pressure in the interior chamber to draw air into the interior chamber through the air inlet of the housing,an electronically-controlled fuel injector positioned in the interior chamber of the housing, andan electronic controller for controlling operation of the air pump and the fuel injector, the electronic controller positioned in the interior chamber of the housing and exposed to a portion of the air drawn into the interior chamber of the housing.

Abstract
A control unit for controlling operation of a fuel-fired burner includes a housing having an air inlet which is open to an interior chamber of the housing. An air pump is positioned in the interior chamber of the housing and has an air inlet which is open to the interior chamber of the housing. The air pump generates reduced air pressure in the interior chamber which draws air into the housing and into the pump'"'"'s inlet. This flow of air cools an electronic controller along with other components position in the housing. The air pump may be operated to draw air from the interior chamber of the housing and supplies the air to a combustion chamber of the fuel-fired burner to facilitate operation of the burner. An associated method of advancing air to a fuel-fired burner is also disclosed.
