- a tissue fastener;
a flexible needle having means for grasping and releasing a portion of the tissue fastener;
a deflector for deflecting and guiding the needle toward the multiple tissue layers; and
a flexible tube having at least one lumen and configured to extend from outside of a body to inside the body, wherein the tube is configured to accommodate the tissue fastener, the flexible needle, and the deflector inside the lumen during delivery.

a tissue fastener; a flexible needle having means for grasping and releasing a portion of the tissue fastener; and a deflector for deflecting and guiding the needle toward the multiple tissue layers; wherein the deflector defines a conduit therein for guiding the needle, the conduit is curved to deflect and guide the needle toward the multiple tissue layers, and the conduit includes a proximal portion and a distal portion, the proximal portion extending substantially axially within the deflector and the distal portion angled relative to the proximal portion, and wherein the deflector includes a main body and a distal body releaseably connected to the main body, wherein the main body contains the proximal portion of the conduit and the distal body contains the distal portion of the conduit.
